Services Provided

What services are provided at the Psychology Clinic?

The UA Department of Psychology clinical training program places great value on the scientist-practitioner model of education and training. Therefore, clinical services provided within the Clinic are derived from and driven by evidence-based practice. In other words, services are guided by research findings relevant to the client’s presenting problems and needs.

Evaluations

The Psychology Clinic provides thorough psychological evaluations to assist clients and their families in understanding cognitive or intellectual functioning, educational needs, and personality and emotional factors. Evaluations provide insight into individual needs and include recommendations to assist in addressing problems or needs.

Therapy and Treatment

The clinic provides psychological treatment and counseling to address the social, emotional, psychological, and behavioral needs of yourself or loved ones. Play therapy is also an option for younger children. Treatment is provided in a setting that ensures confidentiality is maintained. Therapy or counseling is available to individuals, families, couples, and groups.

We provide both short-term treatments for situational difficulties as well as lengthier therapy for working through longer-standing concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and maladaptive behaviors. Treatment is provided from a range of theoretical orientations including cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, existential, interpersonal, systemic, integrative, and psychodynamic. Clients and therapists work together to find helpful ways to understand and improve the client’s psychological functioning.
